Placements are ALMOST done!

Hey! This is Evelyn Cronin. I am still working hard on placements. I started with over 200 people to find a place for and I am down to 49, and 7 of those have tentative placements where I am just waiting on final information from the school!
I can't tell you how exciting that is for me! Placement time is quite stressful in the Center. For a couple of school systems I have a Central Office contact that I send all my placement requests for that system to and that person takes care of the rest...
While I was typing that, I got an email confirming four more! I'm down to 45!
That still seems like a lot, but it sure is better than 200+.

Back to what I was saying...
For the other school systems I have to go school by school, principal by principal...it takes quite a long time! This semester has taken longer than usual and I have gotten so many "no" answers from schools. This is a good and a bad thing. Part of the problem is that our students do not fill out practicum/observation requests until they meet with their class for the first time. The Universities in the state have their student teachers placed prior to the semester beginning. Apparently, there has been a huge influx of student teachers this semester, leaving very little room for my practicum and observation students. Good: teaching is on the rise! Bad: my students get the short end of the stick.

My next goal will be to find a way to make PeopleSoft send students their request form when they register for the course. This will get those forms into me so much earlier! In a perfect world this is going to happen by fall, but we are not living in a perfect world are we? Oh well, we'll see.

I hope everyone is getting geared up and excited for Spring Break! It is just around the corner. I will be in the office most of that week, but may take a day off to go play some Disc Golf.
Students - have a great end of the week & a beautiful weekend! See you next week.
